Q . What is the Blood 4 Life Donor Program?

A. The Blood 4 Life Donor Program is a point appreciation program to say “Thanks” for donating blood frequently. Donors accumulate points over time based on the type of blood donation that can be redeemed for merchandise on-line, mail or fax form (mail and fax forms available at the blood center).

Q. How Do I join the Blood 4 Life Donor Program ?

A. Complete a Registration Card

• Register today and earn 1000 Bonus Blood Donor Points.

Q. When did The Blood Center begin the Blood 4 Life Life Donor Program?

A. Example: The official start date is July 1, 2005. When you join the Blood 4 Life program, if you have donated between January 1 and July 1, 2005, you will receive Blood Donor Award Points retroactively for your donation between those times.

Q. How does the Blood 4 Life Donor Program work?

A. The Blood 4 Life is based on your willingness to donate blood. We ask that you donate at least once per quarter. If everyone donated once per quarter, we would never have a blood shortage. In appreciation for your participation, Blood Donor Points are awarded for each donation. The points may be redeemed at , our on-line store.

Q. Do my points expire?

A. No, your points do not expire. The more frequent you donate the more points you can accumulate. If you donate platelets every 2 weeks – you can accumulate up to 78,000 points in one year!!

Q. How do I get my user name and password to log on to ?

A. Your Username and password will be mailed to you after your donation.

Q. Where may I join Blood 4 Life ?

Q. Who may join Blood 4 Life ?

A. Currently, the Blood 4 Life Donor Program is only available to active donors. We look forward to offering the program to deferred donors and volunteers in the near future – stay tuned for updates.

Q. May I join Blood 4 Life if I am unable to donate?

A. Currently the program is only available to active donors; however we hope to offer an Ambassador Program in the near future if you are unable to donate. We always need volunteer help; if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact your local blood center.

Q. Will I be able to get my blood type and cholesterol level?

A. Yes, this is one of the benefits of joining Blood 4 Life . Once you log on to with your username and password, your blood type and cholesterol levels will be posted at the end of each month after your donation.

Q. May I register a friend or relative for Blood 4 Life ?

A. You may refer a friend or relative, but each individual must register individually.

Q. How long do I have after my donation to sign-up for Blood 4 Life ?

A. You can sign-up at any time for Blood 4 Life . When you sign up, you will receive 1000 Blood Donor Bonus Points.

Q. I donated yesterday, but my points aren’t showing up in the system.

A. Blood Donor Points are awarded at the end of each month you donate.

Q. When will I start earning Blood Donor Points?

A. You will start earning points on your first donation once you join Blood 4 Life . To get started, an additional 1000 points will be awarded once you join Blood 4 Life for a total of 2500 points for your first whole blood donation!

Q. What about donations that I’ve made at other blood centers not affiliated w/ Blood 4 Life ?

A. Points will only be awarded for donations made at participating blood centers.

Q. May I still earn points even though I have been deferred?

A. If you are temporally deferred, we encourage you to come back within the allotted time frame and attempt to donate again; points are issued only for an actual donation. For permanent deferrals, there are plans to implement an Ambassador Program and a Volunteer Program in the near future to allow you to earn Blood Donor Points. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact the blood center.

Q. May I transfer my points to someone else?

A. Points are intended to show our appreciation for your time, thus points may not be transferred to someone else.

Q. May I give points back?

A. Points are intended to show our appreciation for your time, however if you wish to donate your points back to the Blood Center, they will be used to assist in other areas of recruiting.

Q. What about Double Red Cell (2RBCs) donations?

A. 3000 points are awarded for Double Red Cell donations.

Q. What about Plasma and Platelet donations?

A. 1500 points are awarded for plasma and 3000 points for plasma/platelet and platelet donations.
